Scientific Shutdown

A collaborative project for my final third year project at university. Scientific Shutdown is a twin-stick arcade shooter game, where the player must defeat waves of different enemies, and avoid traps and environmental hazards.

 

There’s four levels, each set in a different season, using a low-poly art style. Working in a team of seven, I’m an Environment Artist and Level Designer.

Here are two of the levels that are finished, winter and autumn.

I started by making mood boards, then doing level concepts, and then doing a top down view of the chosen layout. I then white-boxed each level, these were play-tested over and over, and any necessary changes were made.

I then placed in the assets, and we continued to play-test.
